Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC) recently held the district Board
of Directors election for District 1 (southern parts of
SVEC President/CEO
SVEC has electric revenues of about $75 to $80 million. Currently
approximately 80 percent of the revenue goes directly to TVA. With TVA facing
increasing costs and major changes in their rate structure, SVEC faces
significant challenges in continuing to serve our member/customers with quality,
reliable electric service at a reasonable cost.
SVEC, along with TVA, will be addressing some of these challenges with a
strong emphasis on energy conservation and efficiency designed to help our
members save energy and therefore, money while making their homes more
comfortable.
Mr. Sherrill will be working on these and other issues with 10 other members
of the board from across the SVEC service areas. Each board member brings to the
table years of experience in a wide variety of business and leadership roles.
Because of the complexity of the issues, each board member must complete
specialized training from the national and statewide electric cooperative
organizations to keep them informed of unique issues of the electric utility
industry in a rural community.
